Adding New Package
Overview​
This runbook provides step-by-step instructions for creating a new product package in the Intercard system. The process involves three main stages:
- Product Creation - Creating the product definition in Product Definitions/Inventory
- Location Assignment - Applying the product to a specific location
- Button Configuration - Creating and assigning a button in iCashier for the product
When to Use This Runbook:
- Creating a new standard card product
- Creating a new redemption product
- Adding a new product package to an existing location
- Setting up a new product button in iCashier
Expected Outcome: After completing this runbook, you will have:
- A new product created in Product Definitions
- The product assigned to the target location
- A functional button in iCashier that allows cashiers to sell/activate the product
Prerequisites​
Before starting, ensure you have:
- ✅ Administrative access to Intercard system
- ✅ Access to Product Definitions/Inventory
- ✅ Access to Location Table
- ✅ Access to iCashier with Admin privileges
- ✅ Product details ready (description, price, cash balance, bonus balance)
- ✅ Target location identified
- ✅ Understanding of product categories (Standard Card, Redemption, etc.)
Step-by-Step Guide​
Step 1: Create a Product in Product Definitions​
This step creates the product definition that will be used across the system. Products can be standard card products, redemption products, or other types depending on your needs.
Accessing Product Definitions:
- Go to File → Open Product Definitions/Inventory
- The category tabs where the products will be created are listed across the top
Creating a Standard Card Product:

Select Standard Card Products
- Navigate to Standard Card Products tab
- Click the Add icon (++ or use Ctrl+C on the keyboard) to create a new line
Temporary Line IndicatorThe new line will have an * next to it until it is made permanent after all the steps below have been followed.

Fill in Product Details
- Description - Enter the description of the new product
- Suggested Price - Enter the price that will be charged to the customer
- Cash Balance - Enter the amount that will be loaded to the card
- Cash Bonus Balance - Enter the bonus amount to give (optional)
Additional ColumnsThe rest of the columns wouldn't apply if just making a standard card unless it is assigned Block Access Profile permissions or a Membership/Promo.

Save the Product
- When the newly added item is completed, click on the line above it to get the * to disappear
- Select the Save icon to save the changes
- Select the Refresh icon to refresh the screen
- The new product will now be visible as a permanent product

Select Standard Card Products
- Navigate to Standard Card Products

Step 2: Apply Product to a Location​
After creating a product in Product Definitions, you need to apply it to a location so it can be used at that location. This makes the product available for sale at the specified location.

Open Location Table
- Go to File → Open Location Table (or press Alt+F2)
- The Location Table will load
- All locations will be listed on the left

Select and Open Location
- Select the triangle on the left to open the location
- View the information about the location
- Click on the specific category button (such as Standard Cards, Event Package, Redemption, etc.) based on what product type you created previously

Drag Product to Category
- Grab the newly created product with the cursor
- Drag it across the screen to the left and lay it on top of the category to add it
- For example, if it is a Standard Card product, drag it and lay it on Standard Card
- It will now appear in the Standard Card category

Handle Tax Category (if applicable)
- If there was a Tax Category assigned, an option will automatically pop up for it
- Select the tax category and click Okay

Save and Refresh
- Select the Save icon
- Then select the Refresh icon
- View the newly created item on the left in the category it was created
Step 3: Assign Product to a Button in iCashier​
After applying the product to a location, you need to create a button in iCashier and assign the product to the button. This allows cashiers to easily access and sell the product from the iCashier interface.

Open iCashier
- Open iCashier and log in to the iCashier station

Access Menus
- Go to Functions → Admin → Menus
- Within the menus, there should already be a menu created
Creating a New MenuIf there isn't one, click the New Menu icon to create one and give it a new name.

Open Menu Editor
- Double-click on the menu item to open the Menu Editor

Select a Blank Button
- Select one of the Blank buttons
- It will change to Not Assigned

Assign Product to Button
- Choose the category the product was located under from the tabs on the right
- Locate the product in the list
- Drag it to the button
- That will create the button

Edit Button Properties (Optional)
- Right-click on the button and click on Properties to edit it further
- Configure settings in the Button Properties menu:
- Background features
- Font
- Color
- Remote printer text
- Days button will show on iCashier
- etc.
- Select Okay once everything has been set up

Save Changes
- Select the Save icon in the Menus screen to ensure the changes have been saved
- Close out of the Menus and the Admin screen

Restart iCashier
- Select Exit App and close out of the iCashier program
- Restart iCashier to apply the changes to the menu
- Log in
- The new button(s) will appear in the top right-hand side of the screen
Verification​
After completing all steps, verify the setup:
Checklist​
- ✅ Product appears in Product Definitions/Inventory
- ✅ Product is assigned to the target location
- ✅ Product appears in the correct category at the location
- ✅ Button appears in iCashier menu
- ✅ Button is functional and displays correctly
- ✅ Product can be sold/activated through the button
Testing Steps​

Verify Product in Location
- Open Location Table
- Navigate to the assigned location
- Confirm the product appears in the appropriate category

Test Button in iCashier
- Log in to iCashier
- Navigate to the menu where the button was created
- Verify the button appears in the top right-hand side of the screen
- Test clicking the button to ensure it functions correctly

Test Product Sale/Activation
- Process a test transaction using the new button
- Verify the product activates correctly
- Confirm the transaction appears in the system
Troubleshooting​
Common Issues​
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| Product doesn't appear in location | Verify product was dragged to correct category, check Save and Refresh were completed |
| Button doesn't appear in iCashier | Ensure iCashier was restarted after saving menu changes, verify menu assignment |
| Tax category popup doesn't appear | Check if tax category was assigned in product definition |
| Button shows as "Not Assigned" | Verify product was dragged to button correctly, check product is in location |
